Cool Down With Chamomile

As early as the ancient Egyptian era, the aromatic herb chamomile was used to soothe stress and even to induce sleep. Today dried chamomile leaves and flowers are readily available in both grocery stores and specialty food stores. We prefer to steep chamomile in its loose tea form, but a chamomile tea bag will works in a pinch. Make chamomile tea a part of your nighttime routine. Enjoy a cup half an hour before heading to bed and you'll fall fast into an easy, restful sleep.

Ingredients:

  • 2 teaspoons dried chamomile flowers or one chamomile tea bag
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 lemon wedge
  • Honey

Preparation:
Add chamomile to boiling water. Steep for 10 minutes. Strain before drinking. Add lemon juice (preferably fresh-squeezed) and honey to taste.

Note: On hotter days, steep the chamomile ahead of time and chill. Serve with ice and fresh lemon wedges.
