No Excuses: Indoor Workout Options

Don't let winter get in the way of your workout routine and undo your hard-won fitness gains. When outdoor activities aren't an option, consider these healthy alternatives:

  • Walk. Be it the mall, library, grocery store or park, if these destinations are close to home, why not walk instead of driving? You can even walk around your house or apartment. Buy a pedometer, if you don’t already have one, and shoot for 10,000 steps a day.
  • Dance. Elevate your mood and get fit at the same time by dancing to your favorite song.
  • Do yoga. Try out various meditations and poses to workout your mind, body and soul.
  • Create your own gym. You can easily make a cheap home gym with just a set of dumbbells, an exercise ball and a jump rope. (Dumbbells are expensive new, but you can usually find a cheap set on ebay or craigslist). If you have stairs, climb up and down them for 10-15 minutes.
