Healthy Cookies: Sesame Cookies

12/04/2009 | 12:00 AM

The sesame seeds in these deliciously crunchy cookies actually help to strengthen your teeth and gums.

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup sesame seeds
  • Flour for kneading dough
  • Oil for cookie sheets

Directions:
Start with your dry ingredients: Mix the flour, salt, and baking powder together in a medium-sized bowl and set aside. Whip the butter and sugar in a large bowl, and blend in eggs and vanilla. Once this mix is fluffy, you can stir in the flour mixture, half a cup at a time, to make the dough.

Knead the dough on a floured surface. Shape the cookies, using about a tablespoon for each one. Then dip the cookies in milk and roll in sesame seeds until fully coated. Place on an oiled cookie sheet and bake at 375°F for 20 minutes or until browned. Remove from tray, cool and serve.
