Healing QA: Are There Really Cures For Everything?

Q:
Are there really cures for everything that ails us?
A:
When assessing the nature of a patient’s illness or disease, an Ayurvedic practitioner will consider the illness’s root cause, progression, and general severity before determining the extent to which it can be cured. In other words, practitioners consider some particularly severe diseases, like a highly developed incidence of cancer, to be seated in the body to the point of not being reversible. However, there are many instances of patients suffering from a severe disease who made significant alterations to their lifestyle in the form of dietary changes, herbological interventions, and other modalities and made their previously debilitating illness a livable condition. My own mentor Ron, whom I discuss in my book "The Guru in You," was HIV+ and benefitted from a simple and unburdened period of natural living until the disease finally took him many years after he contracted it.
While some diseases might not ultimately be curable, Ayurveda can provide us with many different methods for ensuring that our lives don’t need to be encumbered by otherwise debilitating circumstances.
