Healing QA: How To Stay Motivated For Natural Healing?
11/08/2012 | 10:20 AM
Trying to find alternative and natural ways to heal seems to require a positive attitude and a great deal of motivation, but my ongoing health issues deflates my motiviation and positive outlook. Do you have any suggestions for combating this?
One of the things that seems so daunting to so many of the clients I’ve worked with over the years has been how many different ways I suggest they alter their lifestyle and how overwhelming such a huge shift can be. Eat this, don’t eat that. Sleep now, not then. Take this herb and undergo that treatment. One thing, and another, and another. There have been many times that I’ve camped out in my client’s home for days on end just to keep them focused and ground them in this shift enough so that they can sustain the changes once I’m gone. But without someone there to sleep on your floor, making the types of changes I teach people to make can very much challenge you to remain motivated and positive.
This is why I suggest that you start small and grow your lifestyle shift gradually. Start with drinking hot water first thing in the morning for a week, and then start increasing the amount of time you last eat before going to bed over the course of several weeks or a month. Then, gradually eliminate packaged foods, then frozen foods, then leftovers. One week after another, you can set a different goal for yourself. In a few months’ time, you’ll be leading a completely different life.
Also, I have a book coming out this January called The ONE Plan, which outlines an entire yearlong program of incremental change. You may benefit from utilizing this or another program’s structure to remain motivated and stay on your path to wellness and peace.
