Lady Gaga officially launched her youth empowerment (anti-bullying) non-profit, The Born This Way Foundation at Harvard University on Wednesday.
Lady Gaga and her mother Cynthia Germanotta who launched The Born This Way Foundation , in part because of Lady Gaga's own experience with bullying as a child.
Lady Gaga's Harvard University address was attended by celebrites inlcuding Oprah Winfrey, Deepak Chopra, and Kathleen Sebelius, the US Health and Human Services secretary.
Lady Gaga took the stage in a subdued black dress and addressed the audience at Harvard, saying "The goal of the Born This Way Foundation is to challenge meanness and cruelty by inspiring young people to create a support system in their respective communities,’’ she said. “This is about changing . . . the school environment, and not putting the power in the hands of the teachers or the government.’’
Lady Gaga was careful to emphasize that the Born This Way Foundation is more about youth empowerment than anti-bullying.
