Health Is a Choice, Happiness a Discipline, Part 1: How Healthy Do You Want to Be?

02/15/2010 by Kurt Johnsen

Health is a choice, happiness a discipline. I am willing to switch it and say happiness is a choice and health a discipline. Either way, for the most part, you can choose how healthy you want to be and how happy you are. Haven’t you noticed how healthy people are always doing healthy things and happy people are happy all the time! There is a correlation there!

“I don’t have time” is the number one excuse for people making poor health decisions; be it grabbing that fast food, not eating fruit or not exercising. I can empathize. I run several businesses classes, workshops and retreats, continue to train in kung fu, yoga and music and last year added the most amazing and wonderful challenge in my life, my first child. I understand that time is often short, however, is there anything really more important than your health? Without your health you can’t enjoy any of other aspects of your life.

While I am on the topic of how busy we are allow me to throw this out there. You can’t manage time. Nope, it really can’t be done. It is like trying to manage the spinning of the earth, literally. Also, if it was just the need for time to get everything done, we could just give up sleeping for a few weeks and really get caught up! No, you cannot manage time you can only manage the energy you put into the time you have. The good news is all the energy you could ever want is out there. You actually don’t even have to create it, you just have to learn to attract it and let it flow through you. That’s where I come in. I have spent most of my life studying energy and now I have the ability to share all that I have learned.

Quick Tip: To have more energy right now drink 12oz of clean water, seriously the first sign of dehydration is fatigue so try it and let me know how it works!

It's funny, I've been procrastinating in getting off my butt and going for a glass of water ... I'm going as soon as I hit the "submit" button. Before I do, however, my only other comment is that you be more precise and say "pure" water, which to me at least is a higher standard than "clean." I think most people consider tap water to be "clean," although it contains hundreds of chemicals in many cases.
