Q:

Which phone is safer – a cordless, land line, or a cell phone?

A:

Both cellphones and portable cordless phones, (as well as wireless internet), emit radio frequencies (RF). These may be affecting your health in profound ways including feeling stressed, having headaches, fatigue, and low energy, which, by the way, are symptoms often associated with chronic radiation sickness. While there is currently no practical way to eliminate these detrimental fields from our modern lives, there are ways to significantly reduce one’s exposure, by making simple, informed choices.

First, check to see if your cordless phone is called DECT (Digital Electronic Cordless Telephones) which emits microwave radiation continuously 24 hours a day, even when the phone is not in use, as long as it is plugged in.  I’ve found DECT phones to produce quite a high RF field (I have a meter that measures these frequencies). So, one solution is to use a corded landline telephone instead of a cordless one. Some other tips are:

  • Eliminate as much wireless technology in your home as possible. Rewire the most basic connections, like the computer to the printer, and the computer to the internet, for example. Turn off wireless at night, so your body can rest and repair.
  • Don’t sleep with electric blankets, electric heating pads or with electric clock radios or telephone answering machines near your head.
  • If you use a baby monitor, don’t place it next to your baby’s head...keep it at least 3 feet away.
  • Don’t let your teenager sleep with a cell phone under his/her pillow.

Not a lot of research is being done in the U.S. regarding cell phone safety, but in the U.K. the Office of National Statistics reports that between 1999 and 2009, there was a 50 percent increase in frontal and temporal lobe tumors in children, and the Department of Health has gone on record saying, "Children should only use mobile phones for essential purposes and keep all calls short.
