Kapha body-mind types gravitate toward sweet, cold, oily and heavy foods. If you indulge in these too much, you may throw your system off-balance. Ayurveda recommends light foods that are easy on your digestive system. Kaphas can benefit by following these guidelines:
- Eat light, warm foods like clear vegetable soups, vegetable-based stews and dishes with fresh herbs and spices such as turmeric, cumin, coriander, cayenne, black pepper, dried ginger, cloves and fenugreek for flavor.
- Eat plenty of foods that are pungent, bitter or astringent.
- Make sure to eat plenty of whole grains and vegetables including broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, asparagus, Brussels sprouts and radishes.
