Heidi Strunck: Sculptor

Hosted by Bob Reed

Bob Reed
Artist Heidi Strunck had a brain tumor, which grew for long enough to destroy her optical nerves and pituitary gland. Now, she can neither see nor hear nor taste, but her sculpture continues in large part because Strunck found the perfect artist’s assistant in the form of her husband, who lays out the pools of multicolored threads she uses in her work. “Art helps you find ways of not dwelling on your struggle,” Strunck explains. And how does she pay her assistant? “In kisses.”
