Musician, Wife, Mother

Hosted by Bob Reed

Annie Benjamin knew she wanted to be a singer from childhood, but it wasn't until she'd been playing flute for years that her voice matched up to her aspirations. In her twenties she taught herself guitar, and thought the hard part was over. But then the same year she put out her solo album, she fell ill and faced an onslaught of personal troubles, including her son’s diagnosis with autism. It was the music that got her through it. Being an artist isn't about the finished product, she tells us; it's about the path to getting there.
