Herbal Cold Syrup
Start your child on this herbal syrup at the first sign of a cold, to nip the symptoms in the bud.

Ingredients
- 1 ounce echinacea root
- 1/2 ounce Siberian ginseng (a.k.a. eleutherococcus)
- 1 pint water
- 8 ounces chamomile
- 8 ounces dehydrated sugar cane juice

Add echinacea and ginseng to water. Simmer, covered, for about 20 minutes. Remove from heat. Add chamomile, cover pan and swish around. Let steep for about 10 minutes. Strain, and add dehydrated cane juice.
Dosage: 1 teaspoon every 1 to 2 hours, at the first sign of a cold; up to 4 teaspoons in 24 hours, for children age 2 to 11. On the second day, reduce dosage to 1/2, or stop.
