Couples therapy with a dash of ‘drop and gimme 20!’  Fitness trainer, Kurt Chacon, shows us how he stokes the flames of fitness and love by helping couples take that first step—finding an activity they can do together.  For our relationships to work out, we might just need to work out.

About the Host



Kurt Chacon is in his 18th year as a personal trainer in the North Dallas area. He has trained a wide variety of clients, including athletes as well as individuals interested in general fitness. His credits include off-seasoning conditioning work with the Dallas Sidekicks and the University of Utah women's gymnastics team. Kurt was director of personal training and education at the University Club from 2000-2002. He was named one of the "Top 100 Trainers in America" by Men's Journal in 2004 and 2005.


Kurt's professional educational credits include certification by the National Strength Conditioning Association (NSCA). He has attained the level of Corrective High-Intensity Exercise Kinesiologist, Level II, and Holistic Lifestyle Coach, Level III, from the CHEK Institute of Encinitas, Calif., and has earned a Resistance Training Specialist (R.T.S.) certification from Resistance University in Oklahoma City.


He currently holds a Level II Certification in the Poliquin International Coaches Program from the Poliquin Performance Center in Colorado. He also completed the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Advanced Personal Trainer certification as well as the Biomechanics Certification at the Cooper Institute for Aerobics Research. He is also a certified Neuromuscular Therapist (NMT) Levels 1-3 through the St. John School of NMT.


Kurt began playing golf at the age of 7 and has played off and on for over 30 years. He is a Certified Golf Biomechanic by the CHEK Institute. He has trained professional golfers, serious amateurs and recreational players. He is also a certified Expert Level Cycling Coach through USA Cycling, the governing body of bicycle racing in the United States. Kurt rides several thousand miles a year and holds a category 3 license from the USCF. He has trained cyclists at all levels, from recreational riders to international competitors.  


Kurt can be heard Saturdays on "The New You Show" on KLLI 105.3 FM from 1 to 2 pm. He was previously the co-host of the "Train Station Fitness Show" on Sports Radio 1310. He has appeared frequently in local media, including the "Health and Fitness Show" on TeleCable Plano (1993-1995) and on "Weekend Workout" as a guest and guest host. His writings have appeared in Health and Fitness magazine, the Texas Athlete, IDEA Today, and Rodeo Illustrated. He has been profiled in The Dallas Morning News and The Wall Street Journal.  


Kurt is also a respected educator within his industry. He has traveled extensively throughout the United States, Mexico and Europe, delivering continuing education programs to other fitness professionals. He also was an item writer for the American Council on Exercise (ACE) Fitness Instructor Certification examination.  
Kurt has a B.A. in government from the University of Texas. He also earned a J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law, where he was on the Board of Advocates and president of Delta Theta Phi law fraternity. He practiced personal injury trial law for nine years and has been published in the Texas Bar Journal and the Trial Lawyer's Forum.
