Can IBS be fatal?
IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) is not in itself life-threatening. But the danger is that IBS is a syndrome without clear causes. In other words, your IBS may be one symptom of a stress-related disorder, including depression or anxiety. Severe cases of IBS can also affect your life at a very deep level, and even bring on depression, anxiety or even suicidal thoughts, leading to a vicious cycle.
