Graffiti as Art Therapy

A young artist explains his choice of palette: "I used red and blue the most famous colors, Bloods and Crips, just to show that the colors can be together and actually look really nice." Welcome to Totally Art, where community members come together to make their neighborhoods beautiful. They practice on simulated walls; they paint murals by invitation on the walls of businesses, and learn that graffiti, like so many other forms of street expression, can be constructive and positive. Or as one of the youths puts it, they work with the good side of graffiti, instead of doing it the bad way.
