What Is Memory Chunking?
When you "chunk" a memory, you're recoding it so that it's easier to remember. For example, if you need to buy figs, lettuce, oranges, apples, and tomatoes, it's easier to make a word like "FLOAT" out of the first letters of all the ingredients than it is to remember the ingredients individually.
