I suffer from chronic fatigue and insomnia, yet my blood work results don’t show anything abnormal. Can ayurveda offer something to help me combat and heal these ailments?
As is evident through the work I do with my clients and what I’ll be doing with the various people on the show, determining how to address ailments like chronic fatigue and insomnia in an effective, sustainable manner will depend on getting extensive information about your diet and lifestyle and would be aided by making a series of observations related to your body’s current condition. With that said, Ayurveda considers chronic fatigue syndrome to often be a product of excessive amounts of Pitta energy burning out one’s energy and vitality. Insomnia is often the product of too much air and dryness existing in the body through excessive amounts of Vata energy. Without knowing anything else, it is likely that your CFS and insomnia will be aided by consuming simple, cooked foods that are easy to digest, will lubricate the body, and won’t create additional heat. This can include consuming olive oil, cow’s milk, ghee, cauliflower, broccoli, white basmati rice, and cooked oats.
