Weight Loss Tips: Summer Heat, Excercising Safely

Everyone knows the body beautifying effects of exercise, but not everyone knows how to tailor their routine for warmer weather. To avoid strain or injury, there are a few tips every fitness buff should know. Make sure you drink plenty of water while working out. The body can lose up to a quart of water an hour through perspiration, so make sure you replenish your fluids regularly.

Think of your body like an oven: You have to warm it up before your use it and cool it down afterwards for maximum effectiveness. Warm weather makes it harder for your body to cool down quickly, so try to exercise in a cool place if you’re indoors, or work out early or late in the day, when temperatures are lower if you choose to exercise outside.

Don’t let your exercise ensemble slow you down. Stick to loose-fitting, light colored clothes, which will keep you comfortable. In addition to dressing the part, keep your body safe and know your limits. While it’s great try your hardest, make sure you educate yourself on how to avoid sprains and strains before beginning any exercise program. And remember to look for the signs of heat-related illness, including dizziness, nausea, and confusion. Being alert to these symptoms can help you stay safe as you stay fit.
